This is not intended to be a Global Warming post, but we have just had the warmest April on record. The records of course do not go back thousands of years. But, the hundred years or so that they do cover shows that we are heading into another warm, and more importantly dry, year in 2011.
Those of you old enough to remember the last big “hot” summer in 1976 will know that it didn’t really kick in until the middle to end of May. But, with the effects of global warming increasing concentrated rainfall, we are potentially facing a summer of some fires and flash floods.
We have seen over the past few weekends gorse and wildfires across the UK. Of course some of them are started deliberately which completely and utterly defies belief and logic. However, whether started on purpose or not, they are a re a threat to life and assets. We don’t like giving bad news or seeming to be the ones to spoil the party. However, now really woudl be a good time to check you have suitable business insurance, to protect your shop, hotel, factory, pub or whatever from the risk of fire.
The most important thing to remember is that all you need is the insurance policy, this should protect you enough. You do not need to try and put our any fires. Protecting lives, whether your employees, your own or anyone elses is the most important thing by far.
We have seen reports that over the past 24 months increasing numbers of businesses have chosen to continue trading without cover, the reason being that with the recession it was simply a matter of survival. As things are getting (slightly) better, we are seeing increased numbers looking for cover again who may have traded without it. Those of you who have read our posts before will know full well that the only was to get a decent quote, at a decent price, is from an independent business insurance broker.
